Disney star Demi Lovato is grateful for the support she received from high-profile pals Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus - because their love helped her get through her darkest days in rehab.
Lovato spent three months in a treatment centre at the end of 2010 and the beginning of this year (11), battling an eating disorder, self-harming and depression issues.
And the singer has now paid a special thanks to Gomez and the Party In The U.S.A. hitmaker for standing by her side, even though her decision to get help and speak out about her problems may have been considered "taboo".
During an E! News interview special with Ryan Seacrest, which aired in America on Wednesday (13Jul11), she said, "Selena and I hadn't spoken in a long time. We just had some issues that we had to deal with. But the day I went into treatment I get a phone call from her and she was the one sobbing on the phone.
"She was like, 'Are you OK? I've been crying non-stop. Are you sure you're OK?' And, all issues aside, I started crying too and I'm like, 'Yes, I'm OK.'"
Cyrus also took time out from her busy schedule to be there for her friend: "She sent me a Christmas present and that meant a lot to me because I didn't get Christmas presents in there (rehab)... I just have incredible friends."
Lovato has previously thanked ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas for the support he gave her while they were dating. The singer/actress was on tour with the Jonas Brothers in South America when she made the decision to seek help.
