Del Toro Wants To Direct Seventh Harry Potter

by | 09 January 2008

Hollywood director GUILLERMO DEL TORO has revealed he would like to direct the seventh HARRY POTTER film.

The HELLBOY II director has told MTV News that he would be interested in working on the big screen version of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS as he loves the book.

"I got [Deathly Hallows] for my daughter and she was like 'When are you going to give it to me?'" he said.

"I read it and I was very moved by the ending. It ends very much like a Dickens novel."

He added that the seventh movie appeals to him as the films are growing "darker".

"They have a contrast between the gloomy existence of the kid and the world he's exposed to. They have evolved into a really nice universe," he continued.

Del Toro previously applied to direct the third installment of J.K ROWLING's bestselling books, but was narrowly beaten by ALFONSO CURRAN.

Meanwhile, the PAN'S LABYRINTH director has announced his intention to direct a remake of horror flick FRANKENSTEIN.

Despite being held up by the writer's strike, critically-acclaimed Del Toro has begun work on designs for the film, reports MTV News.

"The only way to do the Shelley novel is to actually do a four-hour miniseries. But I think there are permutations in which you can tell the myth in a different way," he told the entertainment news provider.
