Degeneres Fears For Society For Hilton Adoration
Comedienne Ellen Degeneres is concerned for society if people continue to admire self-confessed "dumb" socialite Paris Hilton.
After re-entering jail for violating probation stemming from a drink driving arrest earlier this month (Jun07), Hilton admitted, "I used to act dumb. That act is no longer cute."
U.S. chat show host DeGeneres says, "She's not getting anywhere doing that.
"If that really is an act, if she really was playing dumb, than what does that say about our society that we're celebrating someone who was successful because they're not smart?
"I just think it's a bad sign and she shouldn't contribute to that. It's just amazing if that was an act the whole time."
Despite her criticisms of Hilton, DeGeneres has invited the hotel heiress to appear on her daytime show.
She continues, "Hopefully, she means what she says. I hope she is reading good books and I hope she comes out and changes her life a little because she needed to."
