Michael Jackson - Defence Expert Claims Conrad Murray Made 'Dangerous' Decision

A defence medical expert has admitted Dr. Conrad Murray violated an accepted standard of medical care by providing Michael Jackson with anaesthetic in his home.

Dr. Paul White claims the decision made by the 'Thriller' hitmaker's personal physician - who is on trial for the involuntary manslaughter of the singer - to provide him with Propofol for two months before his death could be life threatening, violating the oath to do no harm.

Speaking in court today (31.10.11), he said: "Without careful bedside monitoring, it could be dangerous."

A prosecutor responded: "Could it result in death?"

Dr. White added: "If the infusion somehow came opened up widely, certainly you could achieve a significant effect that could result in cardiopulmonary arrest."

However, prosecutor Deputy Dist. Attorney David Walgren was quick to question him.

He said: "Have you ever administered Propofol in someone's bedroom?"

Dr. White responded: "No I have not."

The prosecutor responded: "Had you ever heard of someone doing that prior to this case?"

He added: "No, I had not."

Walgren then went on to question the 20 minute delay in calling for emergency services.

Dr. White said: "He was probably very anxious and in those situations, it is very stressful for anyone."

Later, he added Murray was likely just doing a job he was "requested" to do, following on from Michael's asking several physicians to provide him with assistance with his chronic insomnia.

He said: "I think he was providing a service to Mr. Jackson which he had requested, in fact insisted upon."

Dr. Murray - who denies involuntary manslaughter - faces up to four years in prison if he is found guilty.

OMG...White is being ripped 2 shreds, fined $1000 for not answering to direct questions, and now seemingly 'swaying' away from the Defense....Murray looks like he may require sedation soon - he can't stop scratching & averts his evil eyes each time the tv camera zooms in on his guilty ugly mug. I wonder how much Walgren costs per hour? God forbid I was ever in such a predicament I would surely hire him...he's smooth, ultra-intelligent, and ballsy! Results already in - Murray GUILTY and White on verge of collapse!! Brillant tv - pity about the breaks.

The winner will be Michael Jackson, and this trial is supporting Michael's legacy by uncovering the truth and the end result should then allow him to rest in peace but never be forgotten. If his family elects 2 persue Murray further, they are entitled to do so with or without the attention of the media (no doubt the latter), and good on them I say for Michael deserved respect and should the truth emerge via Walgren, then at least we will know money cannot buy trust - only greed. There is a lot of 'dark' issues surrounding Joe Jackson, & he sounds like he pushed Michael 2 the limit hence the loss of a normal childhood-cue Never Land. Check out captolhillblue/node/19295 Throws a different light on this trial.

I saw some of the cross examination this morning (Australian time), especially White's condemnation of Murray. The defense case has been scuttled by its own witnesses time and again. What does that tell you? However, having said that, this trial should not be a source of 'entertainment' for the public and for the media to create sensational headlines, show inappropriate images nor to give media commentators more opportunities to belittle Michael Jackson. The whole thing is a tragedy. Even if justice is done, there will be no winners in this situation. Everyone loses. In losing Michael Jackson, the world has lost a loving soul who only wanted to perfect his art and use it to help others. Are there lessons to be learned from his situation. YES. Will the tabloid media learn them? I seriously doubt it. They didn't learn from hounding Princess Diana to her death. In the case of Michael, all the 'haters' are being fed misinformation and false impressions by commentators and hack journalists only interested in sensationalist headlines, irrespective of their validity. However, when the dust settles, Michael's incredible legacy as an artist, humanitarian and loving person will remain. All else will be forgotten. (For that I thank God and look forward to the day!)

Peepsluv: ..."he's smooth, ultra-intelligent, and ballsy!" I couldn't agree more. Though there will never be another Meserau (God love him), Walgren is amazing and fighting for Michael with everything he has in him. I just hope to heaven the jury is wise enough to see through the defense's ridiculous blame-the-victim mentality. I also agree w/ Kerryah. Michael's incredible legacy will live long past this tragedy and hideous shredding of his person. I just wish with all my heart we didn't have to lose him to learn that lesson.

Zen2580 - Uh, maybe because the funeral was a PRIVATE affair, attended only by family members and close friends and not the interfering press? For once they actually respected someone's privacy.
