January 2016 is shaping up to be a bit of a musical journey. While there's always a lot to look forward to in regards to new music each year, we're kind of surprised at how diverse the New Year is going to be. Here are just four new artists we can expect to here from in the coming weeks.
Charlie Puth has a 'nine track mind'
Charlie Puth - Nine Track Mind
Released on January 29th 2016, 'Nine Track Mind' is the debut album of New Jersey popstar Charlie Puth who's best known for collaborating with Wiz Khalifa on the song 'See You Again' for the 'Furious 7' soundtrack. He was also joined by Meghan Trainor for his chart-topping debut single 'Marvin Gaye'.
Rachel Platten brings her debut album on New Year's Day
Rachel Platten - Wildfire
Okay, so technically it's not her 'first' album in the usual sense, but 'Wildfire' marks the major label debut of Aussie Rachel Platten, who became a worldwide hit earlier this year with her empowering anthem 'Fight Song'. Produced by Jon Levine, the track top charts in the UK and reached number 6 in the US. It is due for release on New Year's Day.
Kevin Gates is finally set to release his debut album
Kevin Gates - Islah
The rap circle is proud to introduce the debut album of Kevin Gates entitled 'Islah' on January 29th. Named after his daughter, the album will be released via Atlantic Records and follows his latest mixtape 'Murder For Hire'. His 2013 mixtape 'Stranger Than Fiction' was bit of a breakthrough for gates, featuring guests the likes of Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa.

Hinds - Leave Me Alone
A bit of a curveball amongst these mainstream releases, but all-female Madrid rock band Hinds will be unveiling their eagerly anticipated debut album 'Leave Me Alone' on January 8th. In 2014, they started being recognised by major UK publications like NME, as well as praised by such established musicians as The Black Keys' Patrick Carney. They've since supported The Libertines, The Vaccines and Black Lips on tour to name but a few.
