Movie veteran DEBBIE REYNOLDS' son has assured fans his mum is "feeling much better" after a recent four-day hospital spell in Los Angeles.
The Singin' in the Rain star, 80, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after experiencing an "adverse reaction" to an unknown medication she was taking, but her son Todd Fisher reveals Reynolds is grateful to be back at home.
Speaking to the Globe - the weekly U.S. tabloid his mother writes an advice column for - he says, "She felt really bad for several days, but didn't want to tell anyone. Mom doesn't want to be a bother and she really hates hospitals.
"But when her foot swelled up and other weird symptoms arose, her doctor told her she needed to go."
But Fisher insists there was never any concern that his mother's hospital stay would be a lengthy one - or that her condition was life-threatening.
He adds, "We didn't know exactly what was going on, but there was never a real panic."
Reynolds is now back at home recovering from the medical crisis and she has cancelled a string of upcoming promotional appearances as a precaution.
Fisher states, "The doctors told her to take it easy for a while."
And Reynolds has sent the publication a note, stating, "So many wonderful people have expressed concern when they found out that I had been in the hospital. It is very healing to know that you cared enough to send me your good wishes and keep me in your prayers.
"Now that I'm on the mend at home, I'm listening to my doctors - who want me to take it easy for a few weeks."
