German death metal stars Obscura have postponed work on their new album after parting ways with members Christian Muenzner and Hannes Grossmann.
Guitarist Muenzner insists the decision to quit the group was "not an easy one", but reveals he has lost the passion for their music in recent years and wants to spend more time working on his own releases.
He also admits his struggle with neurological condition Focal Dystonia, which almost robbed him of his guitar skills two years ago, was another key factor in leaving the group.
However, he is adamant there is "no bad blood" between himself and Obscura's two remaining members, frontman Steffan Kummerer and bassist Linus Klausenitzer.
Meanwhile, drummer Grossmann confesses he stepped down because he no longer shares singer Kummerer's vision for the band's musical direction, revealing, "The musical chemistry between band founder Steffen and me just wasn't right anymore."
He adds, "It's not a personal issue, it's a musical one."
Kummerer and Klausenitzer are now planning to hold auditions to find suitable replacements to fill in for the musicians to record the follow-up to 2011's Omnivium.
