Dawn French - Dawn French Took Months To Decide Over Lenny Henry Split

The Harry Potter star split from the comedian in late 2009 and their divorce was finalised in October (10).

French admits the decision to end the 25-year union was a tough task and they spent many hours discussing their reasons to stay together or part ways.

She tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "Every marriage consists of compromise and so it should, but sometimes you can clip your own wings a little bit. I didn’t even know that until we decided not to be together.

“There was a lot of discussion. Very honest, open discussion. We talked a lot, we walked a lot, we stayed up drinking a lot, we took months and months to discuss it as there were lots of reasons not to and lots of reasons that we should.

“Once we finally decided, I think we were both relieved."

French is now back on the dating scene and admits she will one day be open to marriage again, adding, "I’ve got lots of interesting gentleman callers - but I can make the choice. In fact I’m scrabbling for time on my own. I don’t even like to call it dating, like some teenager, I’m just trying to have a bit of fun every now and again. I’m trying to work out who I am in relation to other people. It’s very strange finding out who you are as a romantic.

“I don’t feel like I am starting again, it’s just a new phase. I’m trying to have a bit of fun every now and again. But I am not a predator, I am not going out looking. I think it’s a mistake to say never about anything. I’m open to marrying again, but I’m certainly not thinking about it right now.”
