Dawn French - Dawn French In Mourning For Her 'Remarkable' Mother

The Harry Potter actress took time away from the spotlight to help care for her ailing mum Roma until her death at the age of 77.

She has now spoken for the first time since her passing, remembering her mother's achievements as a charity boss who helped set up rehab centres for drug addicts and alcoholics in Devon, England.

French tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "My mum was the most amazing woman, who had a quietly remarkable life but helped many, many people. If I had even a quarter of my mother's strength I'd be extremely grateful. That would get me through, most certainly.

"She raised money and opened lots of centres and rehabs, facilitating help for people with drug and alcohol problems, particularly young women... She just did it very, very quietly and helped a lot of people."
