Davy Jones - Davy Jones Dead At 66: The Monkees Frontman Suffers Heart Attack

Davy Jones, singer with the 1960's pop-rock band The Monkees, has died aged 66. An official from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida, confirmed the news to Tmz.com, saying they had received a call from the Martin Memorial Hospital informing them that Jones had passed away - he was 66-years-old.
Jones first joined The Monkees in 1965, along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork. Often considered one of the very first "manufactured" pop groups, the band churned out a bunch of hugely popular songs include three No.1 hits, 'Daydream Believer', 'Last Train to Clarksville' and 'I'm a Believer'. The group were initially cast together by television producers who wanted to create a scripted series about an actual rock - however, the band suddenly became hugely popular and Jones in particular became a heartthrob. In recent years, the Monkees songs have been covered by the likes of Coldplay, and Smash Mouth's energetic rendition of 'I'm a Believer' was featured on the Shrek soundtrack. The death will come as shock to fans of Davy, considering the musician performed in Oklahoma on February 19, 2012. One night previous, he had performed with Bb King in New York City, and reportedly "looked totally fine".
Jones is survived by his wife Jessica Pacheco - his first third - and four daughters from a previous marriage.
