David Walliams - David Walliams 'Humbled' After Carrying Olympic Torch

British TV stars David Walliams, Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders carried the Olympic torch on the penultimate day of its journey around the U.K. on Thursday (26Jul12) - and the Little Britain star insists he was "humbled" by the experience.
The funnyman helped kick off the festivities on day 69 of the event by running down Upper Street in the London borough of Islington and he was delighted by the hundreds of fans who turned out to cheer him on.
Walliams says, "I felt really humbled to be a part of it. This torch and this flame is bigger than anybody out there and there's something about the spirit and I really got a sense of that running along... I had a wonderful response. I was thrilled to be asked to do it, especially so near to the Olympics starting.
"It was fantastic to be a part of it, I've been looking forward to it for ages... I know I'm only a small part of it but it felt very special. I'm not a natural jogger, let alone runner, but it's only 300 metres, so I did manage it. I started off walking, then I went into a jog, then I thought I would show off and started running and then it was all over. I'm glad it wasn't much further."
Lumley and Saunders channelled their Absolutely Fabulous characters Patsy and Edina, respectively, as they jointly held the famed flame and jogged through Chelsea, south-west London.
The torch also visited Queen Elizabeth II's official residence Buckingham Palace, where Princes William and Harry and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge were among the royals watching the event in the grounds.
The torch's 70-day journey around the U.K. concludes on Friday (27Jul12) at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
