David Tennant's Magical Horror Role
'Doctor Who' star David Tennant will take on the role of a magician in 'Fright Night' remake
David Tennant will play a magician in the remake of cult classic movie 'Fright Night'.
The 'Doctor Who' actor has taken on the role of magician and vampire hunter Peter Vincent in the comedy chiller film.
David's updated character will be a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery, rather than the late night TV show host that Roddy McDowell played in the original. Claiming to be a vampire expert, he is approached by a teenager who is convinced that his neighbours are vampires even though no one believes him.
The normally clean shaven actor is almost unrecognisable in the role sporting a goatee and shoulder length hair.
The update has been adapted from Tom Holland's original screenplay by Marti Noxon and will be directed by Craig Gillespie for Dreamworks.
The original movie was released in 1985.
'Fright Night' also stars Toni Collette, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Anton Yelchin.
The movie is scheduled for release on October 7, 2011.
