David Suchet - David Suchet Collects Cbe From Prince Charles

David Suchet, the British actor best known for his long-running role as Agatha Christie's detective 'Hercule Poirot', has collected his Cbe from the Prince of Wales, reports Bbc News. David Suchet was honoured for his services to drama during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace today (23rd June 2011).
Suchet has had a long and distinguished career on British television, including roles in 'The Way We Live Now' and alongside Ray Winstone in Itv's 'Henry Viii'. He has been nominated for both Olivier and Tony Awards for his work on the stage, most notably his acclaimed performance as Antonio Salieri in Peter Shaffer's 'Amadeus'. Speaking at the ceremony, Suchet noted, "I've had a fantastic career. Although I will be remembered for Poirot I have never been typecast. I'm very rarely me. I'm a character actor and that's the joy and the challenge". The actor, who has filmed all but five of Christie's 'Poirot' novels, says he has a "lifelong dream" to appear in the final few, saying, "It may happen. There's a green light flickering and I'm waiting for it to be steady. It may be next autumn".
David Suchet was joined at the Palace by the actress Harriet Walter, who was made a Dame, also for her services to drama. Walter starred alongside Brad Pitt in the 2006 film Babel and in 2007's Atonement.
