David Bowie revisits old albums

David Bowie's new album is similar in sound to 'Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)'.

The legendary singer will release 'The Next Day' in March, and his producer and long-term collaborator Tony Visconti says some aspects of the record will remind fans of his 1980 LP and 2002's and 'Heathen'.

Tony said: ''Sonically, it's something in between 'Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)' and 'Heathen'. We actually played some unreleased 'Scary Monsters...' recordings and stuff from the 'Lodger' days [in 1979]. We tried to recreate them or update them, but instead we just got into the vibe.''

The two albums are not the only records from David's back catalogue to have influenced recording sessions for the new album.

Speaking about track 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight)', Tony told NME magazine: ''This one could be off [1972 album] 'Ziggy Stardust...' It's a big stadium rock song.

''On 'Love is Lost', we used some techniques we used on [1977's] 'Low' on this, so soundwise you might hear something familiar.''
