David Beckham advised against tattoo

David Beckham's tattoo artist tried to talk him out of some of his body art.

Manchester-based Louis Molloy urged the soccer star for ''two years'' to think twice about having inkings done on highly-visible parts of his body, including the four-by-six-inch winged cross he had etched on the back of his neck in 2004.

Louis told the Daily Star newspaper: ''I spent two years trying to get David not to get the neck one.

''He'll even tell you himself. I don't like to do them on the neck, face or hands normally, but let's face it, he's not going to find himself out of a job because of it, is he?''

Louis believes David is happy to have ignored his advice.

He added: ''He must like it because he never had it removed.''

The soccer star's most recent tattoo was the world 'love' written on his left hand.

David - who has sons, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, seven-year-old Cruz, and 14-month-old daughter Harper with wife Victoria - has over 20 tattoos, including the name of Harper etched in script along his left collarbone and a design of Jesus being carried by three cherubs, which is dedicated to his three boys.

In addition, the Los Angeles Galaxy player also has Brooklyn's name running across his lower back, Romeo on the base of his neck and Cruz across the middle of his back underneath an image of a guardian angel, as well as wife Victoria's name written in Hindu script along his forearm.
