Veteran British Dj Dave Lee Travis has been cleared of 12 sex attacks dating back to the 1970s.
The 68-year-old presenter was accused of groping women as young 17 in a series of assaults between 1976 and 2008 but he was found not guilty of 12 of the charges on Thursday (13Feb14).
However, he is facing the possibility of a retrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict on a further count of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.
It was alleged Lee Travis used his fame to attract young women before molesting them. He was accused of groping a teenager while presenting music chart show Top of the Pops in the 1970s and had even assaulted a 17 year old while on air on Bbc Radio 1, London's Southwark Crown Court heard.
Lee Travis admitted he is a tactile person and often hugs both men and women, but branded the sex abuse allegations "completely insane" and insisted he would have been committing career suicide by groping women while working at the Bbc.
The presenter, who was tried under his real name David Patrick Griffin, will be informed later this month (Feb14) whether prosecutors will push for a retrial on the remaining counts.
