Dave Gahan Honoured At Sobriety Gala
The singer, who cheated death after a heroin overdose in 1996, was presented with the MusiCare's Stevie Ray Vaughan Award in recognition of his ongoing battle for sobriety and his efforts to help others in similar situations.
Introducing Gahan to the stage, rocker and former drug abuser Steven Tyler told the crowd, "One of the hardest things an addict can do is to get sober and to stay clean."
Gahan then played a set of cover tracks and teamed up with surprise guest Martin Gore to delight fans with a rendition of Depeche Mode hit Personal Jesus.
Jane's Addiction and Paramore also performed in front of a star-studded audience which included Billy Corgan, Billy Idol and director Cameron Crowe.
The annual event raises cash for the MusiCares Map Fund to aid artists with health or financial problems.
