Dash And De Niro Team Up For Film Projects
Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder DAMON DASH has teamed up with ROBERT DE NIRO to make a film about the life of legendary New Yorker LARRY DAVIS. At 19, Davis traded fire with New York City cops, wounding six of them and escaping despite being shot in the head. After eluding a manhunt for 17 days, Davis turned him himself in to the FBI on the promise that federal officials would investigate local police corruption. Dash explains, "In urban culture, Larry Davis is somewhat of a legend." Dash is also working on a film about a real female "fight club" in Brooklyn, New York, where troubled women pummel each other for cash in a basement makeshift ring. He is also developing a film based on the life of mobster JOE STASSI, a go-between of MEYER LANSKY and LUCKY LUCIANO. Dash has previously produced THE WOODSMAN and the upcoming CUBA GOODING JR film SHADOWBOXER.
