Daryl Hannah - Daryl Hannah Arrested After Oil-line Protest
Actress Daryl Hannah found herself behind bars after a dramatic showdown with construction workers in East Texas, during which she was protesting the building of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.
The Kill Bill star and local farmer Eleanor Fairchild were both taken under police custody after the protest on Eleanor's ranch in Winnsboro, about 100 miles east of Dallas. The plot of land was forcibly bought from Ms Fairchild, 78, after she refused on a number of occasions to have the massive pipeline built on her premises. The pipeline will link Canada with the Gulf of Mexico, delivering huge amounts of crude oil through the United States to be refined there - potentially causing massive environmental issues on the way.
The pair were busted on suspicion of criminal trespassing and resisting arrest as they tried to keep the good fight going. Following their release on bail, Hannah told waiting reporters; "I couldn't be prouder to take a stand with my new inspiration, Eleanor. We're rising up to defend homes here and now, because if a multinational corporation like TransCanada can come in and steal private property from Texans, then they'll do it to anyone."
Hannah has long fought for environmental issues and this isn't the first time she has been arrested for fighting for what she believes in; her most recent arrest coming in Washington, D.C., in August 2011 during a group protest against the Keystone XL pipeline outside the White House after President Barack Obama gave it the green light in the South of the country.
