Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love suffered a heart attack before a concert in New Jersey at the weekend (21Jul12) - but insisted the show must go on.
The soul star, who played Danny Glover's wife in the Lethal Weapon films, experienced stomach and chest pains before her gig in Asbury Park, but took painkillers and hit the stage.
When the pain turned to agony the following day, Love was taken to hospital where doctors informed her that she had had a heart attack - and was close to death.
Love tells local radio station Wcbs, "We caught it before it got bad and I went in and had the procedure done."
Love, who celebrated her 74th birthday on Thursday (26Jul12), spent two days in hospital and now she's looking forward to getting back onstage, adding, "They told me I'd be fine in a couple of days. I can go back to my regular routine."
