Liars - Dappy Insists He Is Innocent

Dappy insists he is ''completely innocent'' after being embroiled in a fight at a petrol station.

The 'No Regrets' singer has branded reports he and a pal were involved in an altercation in February as ''lies'' and insisted the truth will out eventually.

He tweeted: Apparently i got arrested 4 talking 2 someones girlfriend in a P station.

''Surrey police, i beg u leak that cctv footage u showed me in that stinking interview room just 2 show the world that im completely innocent.

''Bunch of liars...Nooooo evidence u scums...F..k Feds..Love u fans x (sic)''

It had been claimed that Dappy and a pal reportedly pulled up at a Shell petrol station in Surrey in February at 3.30am and approached a group of two girls and three men and asked the women to join them in their car.

When Dappy, 24, and his unnamed 27-year-old friend's advances were refused, one of them allegedly spat at the women before another group of up to six men in two cars arrived, leading to an altercation in which the three men with the girls were assaulted and received serious facial injuries.

However, Dappy added: '' On My Dads grave noooo one spat at any time (sic)''

Despite Dappy's comments, Surrey police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: ''Police are investigating an incident which happened on the forecourt of the Shell garage in Woodbridge Road, Guildford, on Tuesday, February 28.

''Three men were assaulted and received serious facial injuries in the attack.

''A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were both arrested on suspicion of affray.''

N-Dubz rapper Dappy - who has two children Gino, three, and one-year-old Milo, with his on/off girlfriend Kaye Vassell, 21, has reportedly been bailed until May, while his friend was bailed until this month.

Atp Iceland 2014 Add Mogwai, Slowdive, Shellac Plus Many More 4187660 Press Releases

All Tomorrow's Parties today announces the lineup for their 2014 Icelandic Takeover, which includes a Neil Young & Crazy Horse show at Laugardalshöllin on July 7th, and the second ever ATP Iceland Festival, to be held at the former NATO base Ásbrú in Keflavík near the nation's capital, from July 10-12th.

First up are Steve Albini's brutal alt-rock outfit Shellac, playing Iceland for the first time since 1999. They're joined on the bill by US slowcore legends Low. LIARS' latest record sets them up for incendiary set at ATP Iceland, and the dreamy sound of Slowdive will be a big draw for many. Alt-folk star Devendra Banhart will also enter the spotlight for a solo outing, and seminal Scottish post-rock outfit Mogwai will bring their evergreen epic noise to the festival.

On the home team are Ben Frost, the Iceland-based Australian whose acclaimed new album A U R O R A is due to drop soon. Young Icelandic twins Pascal Pinon join the bill alongside their Morr Music labelmate Sin Fang, as do classic Icelandic rock band HAM, and Fufanu (formerly Captain Fufanu).

These bands join an already stellar lineup, with Portishead, Interpol, Swans, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Fuck Buttons, Eaux, Forest Swords, Samaris, Low Roar, For A Minor Reflection, Sóley and Mammút already announced.

With the lineup of music now complete, there are still some exciting announcements to come, including the curator/s of the ever-popular cinema schedule, and the details of the food & drink element of the festival that brings so much happiness to attendees each year as they devour some Icelandic food between bands.

Festival tickets that include on-site accommodation quickly sold out, so the festival has secured extra accommodation on-site at Ásbrú to reflect the demand. Located only a short walk from the venues, these tickets are available as 2-berth and 4-berth Combination tickets with access to the Neil Young & Crazy Horse show are also available.

Liars - No.1 Against The Rush 3090476 Videos 27th June 2012

Indie rock band Liars have released the video for the first single, 'No.1 Against the Rush' of their self-produced latest album 'WIXIW'.

The video is a depraved story of abduction and murder in which each band member, Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross, get garrotted with plastic sheets and stuffed into the back of a dry cleaning worker's van in the dangerous part of LA. It's almost enough to distract you from the song which, incidentally, has an eerie instrumental that effectively haunting when coupled with the deep vocals. 'We were really won over by Todd Cole's enthusiasm for 'No. 1 Against The Rush'', said Aaron Hemphill on working with the video's director. 'Despite being wrapped head to toe in plastic, being dragged through broken glass, and being strangled to the ground, we had the easiest job to do on the set and we eagerly look forward to any new forms of punishment that can be inflicted upon us in making the next video.'

The band are currently on a North America tour, which kicked off at New York City's Webster Hall, promoting sixth album 'WIXIW' which came out at the beginning of the month (June 2012). ''Wish You' is a familiar and universal sentiment of longing and hope, but when misspelt becomes uniquely shrouded and difficult to interpret', Andrew says of the album. 'If we aren't confusing people, it's not us. If we aren't confusing ourselves with what we do, then we've failed.'

Liars
Album Review

From the offset, Liars have always been a band deserving of our undiluted attention. And this, their fourth album, does not disappoint. They may have slipped ever so slightly off the radar, their output no longer nestling quite so succinctly within the boundaries of what we are told is good and hip and consumer-friendly. Thankfully, they are still orbiting a solar system all of their own; they've thrown off the 'punk-funk' tag that hung round their necks for so long and have kicked themselves loose from the shackles of expectation that so often restrain 'trendy' bands from achieving anything more than a couple of hit "7s and an NME cover to show their grandkids.

The self-titled offering is a smorgasbord of styles, bewildering and deftly defying any neat and tidy summarising on my part. 'Houseclouds' is could easily be a page torn out of Beck's diary, whereas its successor, 'Leather Prowler', a haunting electronic, spoken-word number is more likely torn from that of Freddy Kruger. Where Angus's vocals have previously jumped out of the mix like an errant child, gagging for attention, here he drones alongside the background noises: voice as instrument rather than messenger.

'Liars' veers brazenly between industrial, punk, psychedelia and even, dare I say it, glam rock (on 'Freak Out', a track which closes the ground between early BRMC and Marc Bolan, if such a feat is possible). Bass and vocals are distorted to oblivion, lyrics are buried dep in the sand, and pulled to the surface, gasping for air. It's a treat. Nowhere near as instant a hit as their first two albums, but a hit, nonetheless.

Plaster Casts Of Everything
Video

Liars release their new single, Plaster Casts Of Everything on August 6th 2007. Plaster Casts Of Everything is featured on self-titled album, Liars.

'Liars' was recorded on the heels of 2006's 'Drum's Not Dead' somewhere between LA and Berlin. Liars' 4th album marks another bold transition for Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross. For the new album Liars have foregone theory for a more practical approach, one based on traditional song structures and instrument usage.

"I'd never felt like a songwriter 'til this album," explains Angus. "If you told me last year Liars would release a record like this, I would have laughed. If you said I'd be playing guitar solos, I'd have called you a liar. We never know what we're making 'til it's made. this time I'm a bit shocked."

Album Review

An album that comes with a DVD containing 3 film versions of the album by different directors - essentially three separate videos of each of the 12 songs on the album! So, this is a creative-led art band. The album follows two fictional characters, Drum and Mount Heart Attack - the spirit of creative confidence and the embodiment of stress and self-doubt - through what is undoubtledly a 'concept' album. It is inventive, as if Nick Cave fronted Kraftwerk during a prog rock whim, brooding, intense, propulsive, yet the band are capable of Snow Patrol-like beauty and melody, as on the last track The Other Side of Mt Heart Attack. Is it for you? That depends on how much time you're willing to invest - it needs to be listened to in its entirety, and takes some concentration - as with any art piece, but there is a real reward at the end. Plus, you'll not be short of music videos...
