Danny Strong is set to write 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'.
The 'Game Change' writer is reportedly close to a deal to pen the script for the final installment of the series, which will be split into two movies.
The two movies are due for release in November 2014 and November 2015.
Danny is tipped to beat a host of other writers, including Drew Goddard, the man behind 'Cabin in the Woods' and 'Cloverfield', 'Argo' scriptwriter Chris Terrio, and Vanessa Taylor, the writer and co-executive producer on 'Game of Thrones', to the job.
The first film in the series - which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson - has grossed $685 million at the worldwide box office and a second movie, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire', will be released in November 2013.
Filming on the second movie recently began with Francis Lawrence replacing Gary Ross at the helm.
Despite the change in director, the cast are still enjoying work on the movie, with Woody recently admitting he ''couldn't be happier'' with Francis taking over.
He said: ''I miss Gary - I love Gary. I was devastated when he fell out but I couldn't be much happier with the replacement.''
