Famed film composer Danny Elfman is set to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to music in Hollywood movies.

Elfman, who has won a Grammy Award and an Emmy for his work over the years, will receive the Maestro Award at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference later this month (Oct12).

He follows in the footsteps of previous recipients including Hans Zimmer and Marvin Hamlisch.

Elfman, who has worked on movies including Batman, Mission: Impossible and Men In Black, will be feted during an event at Los Angeles' W Hotel on 25 October (12).
