Daniel Radcliffe - Daniel Radcliffe's Woman In Black Haunts Super Bowl Weekend

Daniel Radcliffe 's latest movie, The Woman In Black enjoyed a lucrative opening weekend at the US box office, though its sales record wasn't quite enough to get the film to the top of the box office charts. The Woman In Black grossed around $21 million, according to the Associated Press but was just beaten to the top spot by Chronicle, also in its opening weekend.
On a weekend in which most Americans' social lives were firmly fixated on the Super Bowl, these figures are considered impressive and the Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian said "To have two movies over $20 million on a Super Bowl weekend is really strong." The Press Association report suggests that both films appealed to the teen and early-twenties crowd, which they describe as the 'bread and butter audience' for the movie industry. The result will be excellent news for Daniel Radcliffe, whose appearance in The Woman In Black marks his first major film role since the Harry otter franchise ended.
Chronicle is a sci-fi drama, telling the tale of three high school friends who gain superpowers. The film marks the directorial debut from Josh Trank and a spokesperson from the film's distributors, 20th Century Fox said that the film was "designed and made for a younger demographic. That demographic has been the one that's been missing from theaters." The film makers ability to connect with a younger audience seems to have ben key to the success of Chronicle, which was filmed in a Diy documentary style. Chris Aronson of 20th Century Fox also commented "There was a lot of pre-release chatter on social media that made a connection with this audience."
