Daniel Radcliffe is set to star in 'Tokyo Vice'.
The 'Harry Potter' actor has signed on to play the lead role in director Anthony Mandler's forthcoming thriller based on the real life events of a journalist who exposed a Yakuza mafia boss, reports Deadline.
The story follows American reporter Jake Adelstein, who, while working at a newspaper in Tokyo, Japan, was assigned to the crime beat and found himself in the crosshairs of Yakuza boss Tadamasa Goto, known as the ''John Gotti of Japan''.
The journalist detailed his brush with the mob in a memoir - from which the film's script will be adapted - and the high-stakes drama will track how Adelstein investigated and eventually exposed the criminal kingpin at great personal cost, including death threats.
Adelstein will contribute to playwright JT Rogers' script for the film, which will be produced by John Lesher and Adam Kassan for Le Grisbi Productions.
Radcliffe scored a post-'Harry Potter' hit last year when he starred in 'The Woman in Black', the most successful British horror film of all time, grossing $130 million worldwide.
The actor has also recently signed on to star in 20th Century Fox's remake of 'Frankenstein'.
Mandler is best known for directing music videos for the likes of Rihanna.
