Daniel Radcliffe - Daniel Radcliffe Almost Turned Down Harry Potter Role
Daniel Radcliffe has become one of the most recognisable faces on the silver screen thanks to his phenomenally successful role as young wizard Harry Potter in the run of eight film adaptations of Jk Rowling's famous run of books. Yet, in an interview, the actor who's recently turned to Broadway has admitted that he might not even have been in the films if his parents had had their way.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 22 year old said that his parents were dead against the initial offer made to Radcliffe that he was to star in six films all to be filmed in Los Angeles. The actor said "my mum and dad simply said, 'That's too much disruption to his life. That's not gonna happen.' I didn't know any of that had gone on." Radcliffe went on to add "And then, maybe three, four months down the line, the deal had changed, and it was gonna be to shoot two films, and they'd both be done in England, and so they said, "Okay, we'll let him audition." And then it all went from there, really."
With a year gone since the last film came out, Radcliffe did admit he missed Harry Potter - but not often, with a fantastic 2011 which has seen him star in the Broadway production 'How To Succeed Without Really Trying'. "I had a moment the other day of actually really missing it for the first time since, of going, 'God, I miss those people!'" said the actor, "But, yeah, I mean, it's been over a year now, and I've been having this amazing year here, so it's been a great first year away -- may they all be this good!"
