Daniel Craig Returns For 'Classic James Bond Movie' Skyfall
Director Sam Mendes, best known for his movie 'American Beauty', announced details of the new movie in London on Thursday (3rd November 2011), firstly confirming the much speculated title, 'Skyfall'. Elsewhere, he told reporters that Spanish actor Javier Bardem would play the villain role, while Judi Dench reprises her role as spy chief M. The filmmaker also revealed veteran British actor Albert Finney, the acclaimed Ralph Fiennes and young star Ben Whishaw would play as-yet-undisclosed roles. Mendes said, "There's lots of surprises.I think this has all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including - to quell any rumors - a lot of action". There had been speculation the movie would place more emphasis on narrative after some fans complained of an over-reliance on action scenes in 'Quantum of Solace'. Filming on Skyfall will begin on Thursday, with locations including London's government district of Whitehall, Pinewood studios, Scotland, Istanbul and Shanghai.
The movie was at one stage thrown into doubt after studio Mgm filed for bankruptcy in 2010, but new management confirmed the long running franchise would continue. Actor Sam Worthington is the 3/1 favourite with bookmakers Paddy Power to take over from Craig once the British actor steps down as Bond.
