Lindsay Lohan - 'Dangerous And Exciting':Working With Lindsay Lohan On Liz & Dick
Casting Lindsay Lohan in the role of Elizabeth Taylor (in new TV movie ‘Liz & Dick’) was always going to be a risk, but the show’s executive producer Larry Thompson told Reuters it was a risk worth taking.
"Let's say that producing a movie with Lindsay Lohan is not for the faint of heart,” said Thompson. “I turned 50 shades of white during production...But the risk was worth the rewards; the pain was worth the pleasure.”
He went on to reveal why Lohan was such a perfect choice to play the late screen icon, explaining “I think Lindsay Lohan... literally knows no boundaries and that becomes dangerous and exciting,” he told reporters, ahead of the movie’s premiere. “And she has the ability to bring to the screen and her performance that danger, that raw emotion.” Filming the movie turned into a case of life imitating art, as they would have to deal with paparazzi hanging out of trees, trying to catch a glimpse of Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor, who was being chased by fictional paparazzi in the movie.”
During the shoot, the paparazzi weren’t the only ones following Lindsay Lohan; trouble seemed to follow wherever she went, too. She was admitted to hospital, apparently suffering from “exhaustion and dehydration” at one point and at another, she was involved in a serious car crash. So far, there have been some harsh criticisms of the movie. Lohan’s performance is described by The Hollywood Reporter as “woeful” and the general consensus seems to be that the casting of Lohan was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
