Damon Albarn - Damon Albarn To Release Opera Album

Damon Albarn will release an album from his 'Dr. Dee' opera.

The Blur frontman recorded the 18-track record late last year with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and now the soundtrack to the production - inspired by mathematician John Dee - will be released on May 7.

'Dr. Dee' premiered at the Manchester International Festival last summer and Damon is set to perform it again with the artists featured on the album at Wiltshire even OneFest on April 14.

Speaking about the show, he said: ''I'm really looking forward to the festival; Wiltshire in spring feels like a perfect setting for Dr. Dee songs. Some of my favourite musicians are playing with me, it will be special.''

Damon previously admitted he wrote the opera because of a ''strong emotional connection'' to the 16th century scientist.

Damon - who also performs in the opera - said: ''I'm myself. I'm not walking around in a ruff and tights. I've got a really strange emotional connection - it really gets to me, that haunted, magical England. It's something that really stirs me in an irrational way.''

'Dr. Dee' tracklisting:

'The Golden Dawn

'Apple Carts'

'Oh Spirit Animate Us'

'The Moon Exalted'

'A Man of England'

'The Marvelous Dream'

'A Prayer'

'Edward Kelley'

'9 Point Star'

'Temptation Comes In The Afternoon'

'Watching the Fire That Waltzed Away'
