Damon Albarn Cancels Africa Trip
British rocker Damon Albarn axed a planned month-long break in Mali after radical Islamic forces took over the north of the African republic.
The Blur frontman is a keen fundraiser for the landlocked nation and has made several collaborative albums with local musicians to boost aid for the country.
He was planning to make another trip to the region on behalf of Oxfam this year (12), during which he wanted to record more music, but he has had to cancel the journey because of unrest following a coup and a subsequent counter-coup earlier this year.
Albarn tells British magazine Seven, "I had this romantic idea of going and living with goats for a month, but sadly that's not possible at the moment."
