The Band of Brothers star was a student at the exclusive school but he chose to keep the fact out of his resume for fear he'd have to relive his past on film.

He tells Bbc Radio 4's Front Row show, "It was really to avoid any typecasting in a floppy-fringed, public schoolboy kind of way."

And he admits it's not a past he has that many fond memories of: "My experience of boarding school was that I wasn't the handsome (actor) Rupert Everett type. I was the slightly too red and pale, funny one."
