THE WHO star ROGER DALTREY is urging the British public to put aside reservations about the war in Afghanistan and throw their full support behind the troops fighting there.
The rocker is due to play a charity concert in the U.K. next month (Sep10) to benefit soldiers injured in the conflict, as well as the families of those killed in battle.
And Daltrey is adamant Britons need to forget the political aspect of the war and focus on helping the brave men and women who fight for their country.
He tells Britain's The Sun, "It is astonishing to me that people's attitude to our permanently injured troops can be equally divided. 'They know what they're signing up for when they join,' has been a phrase I've heard during the last few months while trying to raise support for... the concert.
"While I appreciate that a lot of these people are fiercely opposed to the war, to carry opposition of it into opposition to the support of our injured troops is an anathema (sic) to me... We as a society have a responsibility to the young men and women who have paid a very high price for the politics of this country. It's far too easy to say the war was not in my name, because we have to accept that rightly or wrongly it was. The decisions of the British government are our responsibility. We voted them in...
"I'm sure we can show that we've learned from the mistakes of the past and give our wounded heroes the support they deserve."
The concert in south west London on 12 September (10) will raise funds for the Help For Heroes charity, while 150 injured soldiers will be given free tickets.

| Helpless Dancer you more then anyone living in England should realise what the Muslims are doing to your country. They are not a religion on peace, and this is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. They ARE all dedicated to destroy your country and mine. No one likes war, but we did not start they did and if you think you can invite them over for tea and crackers and sing "We are the world" you are living in a dream world. The best defense is a good offense. Wake up Europe you are being taken over by the so called reglion of peace. Quit acting like a bunch a yellow livered liberal commie bastards. | ||

| I'm sorry, but we are not responsible for the errors of our government, whether we voted for them or not (and I didn't). Millions demonstrated against the war, and were ignored by the holier than thou idiots in parliament. Perhaps Roger should have a think about some of Pete's excellent lyrics he has sung over the years. How about "Won't Get Fooled Again"? Sure, raise money for injured troops, (and I'm sure the money from a Roger Daltrey gig would' be more welcome than the blood money from Tony Blair's Auto Biography), but lets keep it real. The best way to support our troops is to call for them to come home - its not like supporting a football team in the world cup. People like Roger are in a perfect position to do this. One last thought, would it not be a good idea to also donate some of the money to an Afghan orphanage or something as well? These lines from "Helpless Dancer" spring to mind "and bombs are dropped on fighting cats, and children's dreams are run with rats.....you realise that all along, something in us going wrong. You stop dancing". | ||

| I wholeheartedly agree With Rogers comments, and while it may be hard to do so everyone should put aside any moral objections they may have into the rights/wrongs/legality of the war(s) and give all our support to the men and women who have fought and still are fighting in our name. Support the warriors not the war.! | ||
