Roger Daltrey - Daltrey Insisted On Film Screening Before Ok-Ing Songs

Rocker ROGER DALTREY insisted on seeing new movie PIRATE RADIO before agreeing to allow director RICHARD CURTIS to use THE WHO's hits in the soundtrack - because he feared the moviemaker would take liberties with the band's songs.

Curtis approached the singer and asked if her could use the group's My Generation anthem in his film and Daltrey insisted on a screening before he gave his blessing.

Curtis explains, "Roger Daltrey came to see the movie before he gave permission to use The Who song and the reason he was doing that was to make sure The Who songs weren't too prominent because they've had experiences where they let the movie use their songs and when they've seen it, the movie starts with a Who song, a Who song in the middle and ends with a Who song.

"They thought they were just selling casual cues, but they (filmmakers) were using their music to support the movie."

Daltrey was very accommodating and enjoyed the film - but not everyone was so interested in being a part of the movie, about the rise of high seas radio station Radio Caroline.

Curtis explains, "Some songs are too expensive. The Doors wanted too much money."
