Daft Punk - Daft Punk confused by comeback madness

Daft Punk are confused by the hype surrounding their return.

The French electronic duo - Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo - admit they are puzzled by the response they've received since announcing their 2013 comeback and are struggling to come to terms the huge anticipation surrounding their upcoming album, 'Random Access Memories'.

Guy-Manuel said: ''Right now my brain is shutting everything down, making me pretend that everything is normal. It still amazes me that everyone is so crazy about what we are doing. I'm like, either I am crazy or everybody's crazy.

''Maybe I am just dreaming but people seem to really freak out at what we are doing. I don't know why!''

The musicians are confident about the quality of their new LP - which combines sounds from the past, present and future - but are concerned about unveiling it to the public, especially now there has been such an enormous build up to the release.

Speaking to DazedDigital.com, Thomas explained: ''The music itself is exactly what we wanted it to be. We have no anxiety about that. Sharing it with the world is something different. It's a big question mark. There's a certain amount of excitement and madness that enters the equation.''

Daft Punk's debut single from the album - 'Get Lucky' featuring Pharrell Williams - has received enormous success since its release last month, dominating the UK singles chart with sales of almost 500,000 so far.

'Random Access Memories' is out worldwide next week.
