"Critic Proof" Movies Lead Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day wasn't such a good day for the latest Die Hard as pundits had predicted. The fifth installment of the franchise was reportedly easily beaten at the box office by the Nicholas Sparks romantic drama Safe Haven. Both films received mostly negative reviews. A third new film, Warner Bros.' supernatural romance Beautiful Creatures, reportedly tanked. Nevertheless, forecasters are sticking to their prediction that by the time the Presidents Day holiday ends, A Good Day to Die Hard will cross the finish line with $30-40 million , to be followed by Safe Haven with around $20-25 million. A fourth new film, the animated Escape from Planet Earth, is seemingly being allowed to escape with little advertising or promotion. It is not expected to earn much more than $10 million.
