Crew Member Killed At Young Concert
British singer WILL YOUNG is in mourning after one of his roadies died following a horror fall at the star's concert on Thursday night (15Jul10).
The unnamed crewman was helping to prepare for the Who Am I hitmaker's show at Rochester Castle in Kent, England when he plunged off the stage, suffering severe head injuries.
Fans at the gig were told the start would be delayed because of a "serious incident" backstage, and during the show Young told the crowd: "Someone's had an accident tonight so let's give him a round of applause and hope he gets better."
But the singer's hopes for a happy ending were in vain - the man, who was in his 40s, died later in hospital.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokeswoman tells the Press Association, "We got called to Rochester Castle to a report of a man in his 40s who had apparently fallen off the stage and had severe facial and head injuries and severe bleeding. We were on the scene within six minutes. The patient was going into cardiac arrest and he was conveyed to the Medway Maritime Hospital. We pre-alerted the hospital of his arrival, which suggests he was in quite a bad way."
A police representative adds, "Officers put a cordon in place and carried out an initial investigation. The man has since died from his injuries."
Cops are not treating the death as suspicious.
