Creed Star Stapp Credits Wife With Sobriety

CREED frontman SCOTT STAPP turned his life around after marrying his wife - because the union gave him the "strength" to break his boozy habits.
The singer's downward spiral began in 2002 when his wild antics lead to an arrest on reckless driving charges.
Just a year later (03) Stapp was on the verge of suicide, admitting he put a gun to his head in an alcohol-fuelled slump but was unable to pull the trigger. He went on to suffer delusions and "crazy thoughts", accusing his Creed bandmates of wanting him dead.
The band split in 2004 and Stapp admits he didn't turn his life around until he met former Miss New York winner Jaclyn Nesheiwat.
The couple married in 2006 and now have a son together - and Stapp credits Nesheiwat with pulling him back to reality.
He says, "It (marriage) definitely gives you a greater sense of the responsibility. You no longer live life for yourself anymore. Every decision that I make, I pause, and I speak with my wife and my family - everything goes back to my family and my children. It's given me strength and peace."
Creed announced their reunion earlier this year (09) with a major comeback tour this summer (09) and a new album out in October (09).
