Hard-hitting movie CRASH claimed the Grand Prize at the Deauville Film Festival in France on Sunday night (11SEP05), while another dark drama, Keane, claimed the jury prizes.

Crash's all-star cast and screenplay by British writer/director Paul Haggis were all given special mention when the film became a popular choice for the top prize.

BAND OF BROTHERS star Damian Lewis' turn as a depressed and detached man in Keane was also noted as that film claimed the International Crix jury prize and shared honours with ON THE OUTS for the festival jury award.

Honours also went to comedy REEFER MADNESS; TRANSAMERICA, which stars Desperate Housewives actress Felicity Huffman as a transsexual, and documentary ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM.
