Simon Cowell - Cowell's Mum: 'Don't Blame My Son For Cole Drama'
Simon Cowell's mother has accused British singer Cheryl Cole of "unfairly" blaming her music mogul son for her The X Factor firing, insisting it's not his fault the "Americans didn't want her".
Cole, Cowell's protegee judge from the British version of the show, was drafted in to sit on the panel of the new American version, alongside Paula Abdul and Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.
But after she failed to impress TV bosses at the auditions, Cole was dropped from the show and Nicole Scherzinger was announced as her replacement.
Cole has kept silent about her departure apart from a statement to her fans earlier this week (begs20Jun11), in which she insisted she was "absolutely fine and more than ok".
But her assurance to fans hasn't stopped Cowell's mother Julie from taking aim at the beauty, urging her not to blame her misfortune on Cowell.
Julie Cowell tells Britain's Daily Express, "I think Cheryl does blame Simon unfairly for what has happened. She got very excited about everything that was going to happen in the U.S. - but the Americans didn't want her. There isn't anything Simon could do about that; it isn't Simon's fault.
"I didn't talk to Simon about what was going on. I do sometimes call him and tell him I disagree with him about certain things but there was nothing he could have done for Cheryl."
However, Julie Cowell also offered some kind words to Cole, adding: "She is beautiful and talented and I'm sure she will do more wonderful things."
