Courteney Cox To Legally Drop 'David Arquette' Name
Both parties have cited "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for divorce and both have maintained, since their split in 2010, that they are still the best of friends. They ended their 12-year marriage amicably and David has requested joint custody for their eight year-old daughter. Both Arquette and Cox will be representing themselves in the divorce - another sign that the divorce is an amicable one and they are most likely confident that they can work out the legal proceedings without too many disputes. Although they publicly announced their separation in 2010, their official date of separation on the court documents has been stated as December 31, 2011. The reason for this is not currently clear.
David and Courteney met in 1996, when they both worked on the movie Scream. They married three years later. After their separation, both of them appeared on Howard Stern's radio show together. Stern asked them if there was any chance of them repairing the relationship and getting back together, but Courteney was adamant that it was not a good idea for them to consider a reunion.
