Country Star Chesney Launches Fashion Range

KENNY CHESNEY is adding fashion designer to his resume - the country singer has launched his own clothing line.
The No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems hitmaker has lined up a chain of stores throughout the southern U.S. to carry his Blue Chair Bay label designed for men and women.
Chesney tells People.com, “(It's feels like) that favourite T-shirt that you’ve washed a lot that is kind of sun bleached… your favourite khakis, and your shirt that you’ve had forever... Blue Chair Bay is kind of like the place we’d all like to go if we had no obligations or nowhere to be, and that’s kind of what I want this clothing line to represent."
The singer is certain the range will capture his laid back style for the line, which features worn-in baseball caps and T-shirts starting at $35 (GBP23), because he's used his non-famous friends for inspiration.
He adds, “I’ve got a shirt that says 'Bob’s Charter' and Bob is a buddy of mine that’s been living in the (Caribbean) islands for a long time.”

Taylor Swift Named Billboard's Biggest Earner Of 2013, Plus Other Rich Folks Who Made The List 4104859 News

Taylor Swift is a 24-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, who writes songs about past relationships and posts photos of her cat on Twitter. Also, she is the highest earning entertainer for 2013, according to Billboard. With $39,699,576.60 she came in far ahead of the second and third best – Kenny Chesney (no joke) and Justin Timberlake. In 2013, Chesney made $32,956,240.70, while Timberlake only raked in a “modest” $31,463,297.03 - figures that look more like random sequences of numbers than actual calculated amounts of money.

Taylor Swift is a pretty, young, blonde business-savvy music mogul.

But they were calculated and very thoroughly, too. The list was compiled, using data from Nielsen SoundScanand Broadcast Data Systems – which track sales and spins on TV, radio and internet, respectively – as well as Billboard’s own BoxScore charts. It measures musicians’ profits from touring, recorded-music sales, publishing royalties and revenue from digital music and video streaming (money earned from sponsorships, merch and syncs weren't included due to a lack of data).

Swift came out on top in nearly every category. Her recent Red Tour took in an estimated $30 million, while the singer notched nearly 10 million downloads and ranked fifth in streaming royalties. Chesney did pretty well for himself too, with $90 million from his recent No Shoes Nation tour, or over 1 million tickets sold to his 10th national tour.

The success of Bon Jovi's touring comes despite there being infighting within the group, which eventually led to long-time guitarist Richie Sambora's dismissal from the group over wage concerns in August. Sambora has since said that he left the group to care for his family, in particular his ailing mother, with speculation arising over the prospect of the guitarist returning to the band at some point. At the moment, Sambora's involvement in the band is still unknown.

The Highest Paid Musician 2013: 'Who's That Girl' At The Top? 3964010 News

Forbes Magazine have released their list of the 25 Highest Paid Musicians of the 2013, taking into account living artists' earnings between June 2012 to June 2013.

Beyonce Made in AmericaBeyonce Performing at the 'Made in America' Festival

The latest rich list was compiled from sources including Pollstar, the RIAA, Nielsen SoundScan, artists' managers, lawyers and many of the artists themselves. The figures are comprises of concert ticket sales, royalties, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsement deals and other such business ventures.

Of course, if all artists - dead or alive - were to be considered, Michael Jackson would top the list by far with a mighty $160 million (£99 million) earned over the past 12 months.

He's not allowed to be included in this loud and lively list though so we present to you a Top 10 countdown of the year's highest earning musicians.

10-) Queen Bey Ties Ten

Beyoncé has tied at tenth place this year with earnings of $53 million (£32.9m) after she embarked on the globe-trotting Mrs. Carter World Tour, grossing a reported $2 million in every city she plays as well as brand endorsements and fashion ventures.

10-) Kenny Chesney Shares 10 With Beyoncé

Kenny Chesney is one of three country superstars to make the top ten list this year and ties with Beyoncé at tenth place with $53 million (£32.9m). The Tennessee native has made most of his money this year from stadium tours and album sales. And let's not forget his own brand of Rum, Blue Chair Bay, that has helped him rake in more cash than the likes of Rihanna or Kanye West.

9) Rocketman Blasts To Number 9

Elton John comes in at ninth with truly huge earnings of $54 million (£33.6m) owing to the Rocketman purely remaining popular. Again, live shows have helped the only solo Brit on the list to pocket the cash as his shows gross a reported $1 million per evening with even more touring planned for 2014 to celebrate his new album, Diving Board.

8) Taylor Swift Swoops In At 8

Are we the only ones surprised that Taylor Swift came No.8? Such is the success of the country pop star that you'd think she'd be higher up. Still $55 million (£34.2m) is nothing to be sniffed at but for one of showbusiness' hardest working performers? Anyway, her fortune is down to her fourth studio album Red selling 1.2 million copies in a week, a still ongoing Red world tour taking in as many countries as possible, endorsement deals with Diet Coke, Sony and Covergirl, and a high profile appearance at the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

7) Bieber Has The Money

Whether you love him or hate his guts, Justin Bieber is undoubtedly mega-rich with his year's earnings totalling an estimated $58 million (£36m). You have to hand it to the 19 year-old star; despite a year of hell-raising, he's earned his cash with arena shows, album sales, and investments in start-ups including Enflick, Tinychat and Spotify.

6) The Boss Gets A Raise

Bruce Springsteen is sixth on the rich list after the 64 year-old rocker's busy year of touring and festival appearances. His $62 million (38.5m) earnings represents the impressive longevity of The Boss' career as well as an enduring popularity and well, the talent for brilliant music. Bruce has another album planned for 2014 too which which we could well see him in this list again next year.

5) Coldplay Raise Hard Cash

British rockers Coldplay stand at an impressive fifth on the rich list with earnings of $64 million (£39.8m) this year. It's usually Irish rockers U2 who outrank other rock bands on Forbes' list but Coldplay have out-earned them mainly due to a $3 million per show world tour as well as consistent album sales. Rapper Jay Z has helped the group gain more US exposure too by appearing on stage during shows.

4) Toby Keith Is Rich Too

Toby Keith is our highest ranking country star on the rich list after bagging himself $65 million (£40.3m) which adds to a collossal $270 million (£167.8m) from album sales in the past five years. Though Keith may be less well-exposed in the mainstream that some of the other similarly ranking stars, he's bolstered his income by opening 18 restaurants in the USA, playing hundreds of concerts and launching his own brand of mescal. We'll drink to that.]

3) More Than Halfway There

Far from the penny-pinching personas they imagine in 'Living On A Prayer,' US rockers Bon Jovi are named third on the list with their takings of $79 million (£49m) as a unit. The New Jersey band have not only embarked on a stadium tour (grossing over $3m per city), they've also celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Soul Kitchen, a pay-what-you-can restaurant in New Jersey, plus have enjoyed consistently sizeable album sales, proving everyone still loves a power rock ballad.

2) Gaga Gets The Green

...And by green we mean dollar bills, not y'know the other thing...that she may or may not have mentioned here. Lady Gaga is second on our list, losing out by far to our No.1. with her $80 million (£49.6m). Mother Monster's tour grossed an eye-watering $168 million (£104.4m) but would have taken even more had she not been forced to cancel shows and delay her ARTPOP album due to a serious hip injury. Gaga has truly raked in cash this year which stands her in good stead for next year's list where her ARTPOP album sales will be taken into account.

1) It's A Material World

Ta-dah! We're finally here and the veritable Queen of Pop, Madonna, is No.1 of our list. Perched at the top, the 'Ray of Light' singer has netted a hefty $125 million (£77.7m) owing to ticket and merchandise sales at her big MDNA world tour. The veteran popstar, who is clearly still very much on her game, made this year's mega millions between June 2012 and June this year, thanks to her MDNA world tour, 'Material Girl' clothing line, perfume brand and merchandise sales, according to Forbes Magazine.

When You're THAT Rich No One Can Tell You What To Wear.

Madonna's rich list topping powers above Gaga's comparatively lowly second place serves to only fuel the rumors of the rivalry between the world-dominating pop powerhouses.

Lady Gaga Is Richer Than Royalty.

Madonna Tops Forbes' List Of Highest Earning Musicians In 2013 3963526 News

Forbes have once again compiled their yearly list of highest earning celebrities in every possible respect and the winner for highest earning musician in 2013 is a very familiar face indeed: Madonna. The Queen of Pop came out on top despite tough competition and the fact that she didn't really create or release any new music in 2013. Call that staying power.

Madonna
Madge earned big through her touring and business ventures

According to the magazine, Madge earned most of her money over the last year through touring, with her 'MDNA' tour grossing $305 million in total since it was launched, earning the singer a cool amount in the process. Her other major sources of income has been royalties, her clothing line and the launch of her new fragrance, Forbes revealed, putting her total earnings for the past 12 months at an estimated $125 million.

Madonna didn't just snatch away the top prize from her nearest competitor, as she left other high earning pop stars in her dust, earning $45 million more than her nearest competitor: Lady Gaga. Gaga managed to make $80 million in the last year, although this number would have potentially been higher had she not been forced to cancel her 'Born This Way' tour early at the beginning of 2013.

Lady Gaga
Gaga could have earned more had she not cancelled her tour

The space between two and three was much closer than the gap between the first spot, with Bon Jovi claiming third place with $79 million. The band roughly earned a reported $3 million a night during their 'Because We Can' tour and will have also profited from royalties.

Toby Keith came in fourth, with his touring and the continued growth of his restaurant chain bringing him $65 million to play with in the past year. Hot on his tail at five was another band, Coldplay, who made it into the top five with a yearly earning of $64 million combined.

For those of you wondering where Justin Bieber is on the list, he came in seventh, behind Bruce Springsteen and followed by Taylor Swift and Elton John. Beyonce and Kenny Chesney were both tied for the number ten spot with $53 million each.

Kenny Chesney changed by pal's death 3656872 News

Kenny Chesney's songwriting changed forever after the death of a friend.

The country singer has penned a track, 'Happy on the Hey Now', in memory of his late pal Kristi because he wanted to thank her for the way she impacted on his life, and he admits she changed many things about him.

Explaining the inspiration for the song, he said: ''Well, Kristi was a part of a really special, wonderful circle of friends that I had met in the Virgin Islands years ago. In a lot of ways, she defined that circle of friends. She defined living in the moment. She wanted everybody to be happy. When someone like that passes, when they die young, I don't care who you are or what you do, it stops you in your tracks. It did me.

''I mean, it changed me. It changed the way I write songs. And things I used to get mad at, I don't get mad at that much anymore. I think it changed the way I look at my relationships. If you've got somebody in your life that you love, you better tell 'em, you know?

''So this song is a simple reflection of her friendship and how much she meant to people and how big of an impact she made on my life. She never knew, but this song was a simple thank you to her.''

Another new song, 'Lindy' is dedicated to someone Kenny knows from living in the Virgin Islands, though they have never spoken.

He told CMT: ''Lindy was a unique individual. He was a person that I never had a conversation with, and I don't know that many people that did. He was just a person on the island.

''One night I was walking past this church on my way home, and I heard somebody in there playing piano. I walked up the steps, and there was Lindy. I was there for a couple of minutes and realised, 'As different as our life is, here was a person alone with his thoughts and his music.' And I realised that Lindy and I had a lot more in common that I could've ever imagined.''

It’s A Boy! No, It’s Definitely A Boy! Matthew McConaughey Names Son Livingstone 3431821 News

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have put an end to the rumours that their new baby is a girl. Despite initial reports suggesting that their child was a daughter, McConaughey put the record straight with a Facebook post welcoming their new son to the world. “Camila Alves gave birth to our third child yesterday morning. Our son, Livingston Alves McConaughey was born at 7:43am on 12.28.12. He greeted the world at 9lbs. and 21 inches,” wrote McConaughey. He then added “Bless up and thank you for your well wishes. Happy New year, and just keep livin, Camila and Matthew McConaughey.”

What a brilliant end to a brilliant year for those two; they got married back in June, at their home in Austin, Texas, in a relaxed ceremony that took place amidst a three day celebration. Their guests included Reese Witherspoon, Woody Harrelson and Kenny Chesney.

The couple already have two children; a four year-old named Levi and a three year old named Vida. It’s no surprise then that they chose a less-than-conventional name for young Livingstone. Since McConaughey posted the details of his son’s name on Facebook, the source of Livingstone McConaughey’s will no doubt become the source of much speculation. The Dallas Buyer’s Club hasn’t given the game away just yet, though, so we’ll all have to keep guessing.
