Country music songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane Mcanally are developing a new musical based on American variety show Hee Haw.

The duo has penned hits such as Miranda Lambert's Mama's Broken Heart and The Band Perry's Better Dig Two, and now they are bringing their talents to the stage.

Clark and MCAnally are the composers for the musical, which is about a "wily sexpot from (Hee Haw's fictional rural town) Kornfield Kounty" who wants to explore the world before walking down the aisle with her boyfriend.

Several iconic characters from Hee Haw, a sketch comedy show which was in syndication in the U.S. for 20 years, will appear in the stage adaptation, including Grandpa Jones and Misty Rowe.

Hee Haw: The Musical is tentatively scheduled to open on Broadway next spring (14).
