Conan To Do 30-City Comedy Concert Tour

Conan O'Brien announced plans Thursday for a 30-city comedy concert tour, which he's calling "The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour." The title is a reference to his settlement with NBC-Universal, which restricts his appearances on television between now and the fall. Ironically, the tour will return him to the scene of the crime on June 23 and 24, when he's booked into the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, a stone's throw away from the NBC studio where he hosted The Tonight Show. (He's also booked into Radio City Music Hall on June 1 and 2, part of Rockefeller Center, where his old Late Night show originated.) The celebrity website TMZ said Thursday that all proceeds from the concert tour will go to the staff who followed him to California from New York, at least 40 of whom will be traveling with him. O'Brien, the website said, "isn't making a single cent" off the tour. O'Brien himself offered a different reason, tweeting on Thursday morning "It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house."
