Comrie Refused To Risk Proposal News Leaking To Duff

The Cheaper by the Dozen star, 22, is so close to her mother Susan, hockey player Comrie feared the special moment would be ruined if he had spoken to her mum and dad weeks in advance.

Duff says, "He knew better than to do that. He did call my mum. He went to go get us a glass of wine because we were going to watch the sun go down and he called my mum like, a half hour before he did it (proposed), so there would be no way of it slipping out because we're pretty close so it would've been hard to keep it a secret."

The couple became engaged in February (10) after three years of dating.
