Composer Mort Lindsey Dies
Lindsey passed away at his home in Malibu, California last Friday (04May12) following a battle with ill health after breaking his hip, according to his son, composer and producer Steve Lindsey.
The musical maestro took control of Garland's famous Carnegie Hall performances, and her 1961 live album from one of the shows went on to win four Grammy awards.
Lindsey also served as musical director for The Merv Griffin Show for 25 years until 1986 and received nominations as bandleader for the Emmy Awards. He won an Emmy for his musical work on Barbra Streisand's concert album A Happening in Central Park.
