Complaints Over London Reggae Festival
More than 10,000 revellers flocked to Wembley Arena on Sunday (31Jul11) for the One Love Peace Festival commemorating the 30th anniversary of reggae legend Bob Marley's death.
Headliner Rhymes reportedly took to the stage almost eight hours late and thrilled the crowd with his slot - marking his first appearance in the U.K. for three years.
But the delay threw the event behind schedule, forcing bosses to curtail sets by U.K. artists including London rapper Skepta and Princess Nyah.
MC Skepta tweeted from backstage, "I swear on my life I wanted to leave Wembley Arena, but I had to do at least 7 minutes for all the people that came there to see me...
"Was supposed to be on stage at the One Love Peace Festival at 19:30. Ended up going on at 22.00 without my band."
But a spokesperson for the One Love Peace Festival insists the event was a "great success".
A statement reads, "As with any live event, stage times and set lengths can change due to various factors arising on the day. Despite a few unforeseen delays the weekend's event was a great success and we are thrilled with the audience turnout and the incredible standard of on stage performances."
