Coleman's Ex-wife: 'He Snubbed Celebrity Life'
GARY COLEMAN's ex-wife has credited the late actor as "a good role model" because unlike other former child stars, he shunned the celebrity party lifestyle.
The Diff'rent Strokes star passed away last week (28May10) after his former spouse Shannon Price gave doctors permission to turn off his life support machine.
The troubled actor was arrested earlier this year (10) for allegedly attacking Price, and in a 1993 television interview Coleman admitted he had twice attempted to commit suicide by overdosing on pills.
But despite his struggles and controversies, Price is adamant Coleman was nothing like other former child stars such as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, because he never tried to be part of the Hollywood set.
Speaking in a video obtained by TMZ.com, Price says, "I feel bad for Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan because they're so under the microscope... At the same time I don't have any remorse for Lindsay. She parties all the time, you know, she's the one that makes herself look bad... I really do think Gary was a good role model because he's not into drugs. He wasn't 'sceney' like that. He would go out to restaurants and, you know, do his thing and live his life. But... he didn't want to be friends with celebrities, he had told me that. He was like, 'I don't want to be a part of Hollywood'.
"I really respect the guy that (sic) he didn't want to be friends with celebrities, because a lot of them have issues. They have everything in the world, but a lot of them want to commit suicide, you know, and they just have a negative outlook on a lot of things."
