Cole Fears Kidney Transplant Will Never Come

Ailing singer Natalie Cole fears she'll die before she gets the chance to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant.

The 59-year-old is suffering from kidney failure, caused by the hepatitis C she contracted during her time as an intravenous heroin user.

Cole has been placed on a waiting list for a replacement organ, while friends and family members are being checked out as possible matches.

But she admits she's terrified she'll run out of time - and has placed her fate in God's hands.

Cole tells Los Angeles Confidential magazine, "At the moment, where it's coming from, heaven only knows."

I am a successful cadaver kidney transplant patient for over 33 years. I can empathize with Natalie about her fears. There was no one in my family except for my father who was deceased at the time of my illness, who had my blood type. I wish it were possible for me to even talk with Natalie. Being in her age group, I believe I can be another inspiration that having life, there is hope. There is so much to my journey, I can write a book. I say to Natalie, keep the faith and NEVER give up.
