Coldplay Leads Brits Nominated For Grammiesby Contributor | 06 December 2008
Coldplay has been nominated in seven different categories at this year's Grammy awards including record of the year.
The British band are one of 12 acts nominated for the music industry's most prestigious award. A British victory is certain in the record of the year category as all five acts: MIA, Leona Lewis, Adele, Robert Plant and Coldplay hail from the UK.
In addition to the record of the year category, Coldplay will be up for awards in the album of the year, best rock album, best rock song, best rock performance by a duo or group with vocals, best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals and song of the year categories.
Radiohead is also a contender for the album of the year gong after the success of In Rainbows, which was the first album released under a "pay what you like" scheme in which users had the option of obtaining the album for free.
Crooner Adele is also up for four awards including best new artiste in which she will be up against Duffy of Mercy fame.
Robert Plant, MIA, Leona Lewis, Estelle, David Gilmour, Hot Chip, Judas Priest and Paul McCartney are all up for awards on the night.
The Grammy awards will take place on February 8th next year at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
