Coldplay - Coldplay Join Campaign Against Land Grabbing
Rockers Coldplay are asking fans to submit personal photos or home video footage for a unique new campaign against land grabbing.
The Yellow hitmakers are teaming up with bosses at aid charity Oxfam to make a special video for an acoustic version of their track In My Place, which will highlight the injustices of the controversial practice.
Land grabbing involves large-scale property acquisitions in developing countries by wealthy banks, individuals or transnational companies for profit, and can be detrimental to residents who lose their homes or livelihoods.
The British band has asked devotees to send in photos or videos by 20 March (13) for the chance to be included in the project, which will be curated by Coldplay's music video director Mat Whitecross.
Whitecross says, "I have worked with Coldplay for a long time so know how dedicated and passionate their fans are. The idea of harnessing this to create an original and powerful crowd sourced campaigning tool is one I'm excited about."
The video is to be released in April (13).
